MASTERWORKS FOR STRINGS, Sunday 4 June (Newtown)

An afternoon of the greatest classical string pieces from the last century is exactly what you need to nourish your creative soul. The Bourbaki Ensemble is a string orchestra based in Newtown who are dedicated to highlighting the potency of string symphonies, which are usually overlooked by masterpieces featuring a full-blown orchestra. THE ART OF MARK BRADFORD, Tuesday 6 June (Camperdown)

Art critic Sebastian Smee will be holding a talk on the career of American modern abstract artist, Mark Bradford, at the University of Sydney on Tuesday. The artist, who will be representing the US at the Venice Biennialle this year is mostly known for his abstract paintings, which explores discussions of race and politics by using home improvement equipment in is work. At this lecture, you'll learn more about this fascinating avant-garde artist and his work.
