Neighbour Day

It was great to see our members get so involved in Neighbour Day on Sunday 25th March. This day was all about bringing the community closer together and being even more neighbourly. No matter how big or small the event was, you sure celebrated and we would like to thank you for all your contributions.

In Queensland, members contribuated with a simple Easter egg hunt, a morning tea Monday and an African Festival with traditional dancers, craft stalls and activities. They also held a "Dogs on Patrol" run in conjunction with the Queensland Police, aimed at people who walk their dog through the community and can help the police keep the area safe.

SA celebrated by having a "Dog's Day Out" with music and markets, a great free community event where people were able to meet their neighbours. Also, strangers become neighbours at a free sausage sizzle and free coffees were given out at another fabolous Neighbour Day event.

In Woodlea, 60 people came together to eat and watch Bollywood dancing. A variety of pizzas were served with snacks and curry sticks. They are even making Pizza Nights a monthly opportunity to meet new people.

In NSW they had a "buy, swap, sell" event to benefit the community, a BBQ to get to know their neighbours and free waffles to celebrate Waffle Day. They had a "Games in the Park" event which included a mini-orienteering course and free face painting. Also, Pam C did some smiling and saying hello to people to brighten up their day. It's so lovely to see everyone getting so involved in Neighbour Day. NSW also celebrated with a "Boxing Body Blitz" with breakfast to meet their neighbours, a great excuse for a work-out. Finally, lunches and coffee meet-ups were popular in NSW.

There was a Luncheon in Harford to celebrate their first Neighbour Day – everyone had a great time catching up and meeting people for the first time, we hope you continue the tradition!

WA celebrated with an afternoon tea and a "Neighbourhood Fun Sundowner" which included games, food and drink with an amazing sunset. There was also a picnic in the park organised where neighbours bought a plate and caught up with each other.

In Victoria, there was a street party to make more connections, with plenty of food, music, art and activities. They also celebrated with a community picnic and free lawn bowls.

Here at Nabo HQ we celebrated with a “Nabo Bake-off” where we met our fellow start-up neighbours over tea and cake. It was great to meet inspiring entrepreneurs over some amazing, 'bake-off standard' cakes. The lemon cake was our winner and tasted delicious!

Just remember every day is Neighbour Day. From sharing food to meeting new people, Neighbour Day can be celebrated any time of the year! Check out our ideas at the top of the page for inspiration on how you can get involved.
