Dear Nabo Community,
On behalf of the team at Nabo, I want to thank you for making Nabo - and your neighbourhood - a better place to be. We've just reached 360,000 members so congrats for helping make that happen!
We appreciate all of your support and we're constantly inspired by some of the stories we see, the members who go out of their way to help others and to people who say thanks for what we're trying to achieve. Thank you, it means a lot to all of us at Nabo.
We've also been doing a lot of listening about your questions on verification as well as your thoughts on getting more local content and the balance of offers and ads on the site. It's a challenge for the team here to cover the costs of a free platform that ensures we create a safe environment for neighbours to connect. Everyone of us have read the feedback you've posted so please know we are listening. We're excited about what's happening over the next 2-3 months so we'll update you soon.
It's been a big 3 months for Nabo so we wanted to update you all on what has been going on and what is coming up...
We know that you want to hear about things happening in your local neighbourhood, but we also want to highlight some of the Nabo stories happening elsewhere to help inspire your efforts to connect with your neighbours. Find more of these stories from September here.
We also wanted to again thank Anne McKeown's efforts to share her story of how she helped create a women's group so she could connect with other ladies in her area. It clearly showed that while these can sometimes be challenging, in the end they can be very worthwhile. You can read more about that here.
Keeping Nabo safer and local
We appreciate that all of you reading this are verified members. We have tried talking to as many unverified members as we can to help them confirm their address. Many have been concerned about sharing such information. We would like to encourage all our existing members to talk to people in their neighbourhood and ask them to join your suburb community.
The purpose remains for all of us (you and our small Nabo team) to help neighbours to connect to create stronger, safer and happier communities. The onus falls on members like you to post local news and content that helps people and build your local suburbs. You know that the more people who get involved in Nabo, the more that you benefit from Nabo.
What's coming up?
We're diligently working with local organisations to connect with members locally as well as helping businesses continue to post local offers. Its one of the reasons for the Mental Health theme we ran this month.
We are working on the technical side of the site with our focus being on protecting members. While we will continue to have some limited offers and partner communications, we will look to decrease these to get the right balance between local posts and helpful 'national' posts. This is based on member feedback.
Keep spreading the word to neighbours, friends and colleagues to join Nabo and together we'll build even stronger and more connected communities.
